Special Occasions - Valentine's Day
In 2012 in February, all South Africa will be challenged by a rare virus. All will be affected by this. The streets will run red. It will affect the Proteas cricket team, the ANC, Kaiser Chiefs, the presenters of Super Sport.
The virus will seep into old age Retirement homes, Parliament and even the courts of the land, and will be found in the Gautrain.
The influence of this virus will have far reaching implications for all. The shops at Sandton will all be red but hopefully all will be back to normal on the 15th Feb when we will all have survived a Valentine's Day.
February 14
Valentine's Day was started 496 AD, it became traditionally a day for presenting flowers or sweets. According to Wikipedia it first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages when the tradition of courtly love flourished.
In the mid 1960's Valentine's Day exploded unexpectedly in London when florists were caught unawares with the unprecedented demand for Red Roses.
We will have red roses in cellos, baskets and vases.
For those allergic to red roses we will have all other colours.
There will also be beautiful orchids and plant baskets.
